After a magical 4 days in Paris, kat and I had to say goodbye to the city of love to continue onto the next leg of our travels – Prague.
During our time In Paris, we finally managed to strike the right balance of sightseeing and going out without utterly over-exhausting ourselves. I think the Parisian way of life also accommodated this really well; the city has a fine mix of fast paced living with an opportunity at every corner to stop and smell the roses, be it to enjoy the music of a local accordion player, or to wander into a quaint little patissiere for an afternoon macaron or tartelette. Another thing I love about the French is that there never seems to be a bad time to pop open a bottle of wine or champagne!

A moment on the lips, forever on the hips 😭
Yesterday we had lunch with friends of Kat’s cousin at a local bistro. While the food in France is delicious, it is definitely not cheap or sustainable to eat out all the time. A plate of bistro food would start at about 20€ – around AUD27. Luckily for our budgets, Kat and I were usually just happy with a platter of cheese (pecorino truffle cheese, highly recommended 👌👌), fresh baguettes and a selection of cured meats from the supermarket. However, unlike the food, wine is plenty cheap.
We also went shopping at La Vallée – here you can find outlet stores for big name brands (Gucci, céline, Ferragamo, givenchy to name a few). The value is quite good compared against Aussie prices, so I’d recommend a visit if you’re in the area.
In the evening, we ventured out to Champs Élysées for a picnic beneath the Eiffel Tower. We unfortunately missed the sunset, but nevertheless, it was still an amazing sight to behold. Being a warm summer’s night, the area was abuzz with music and other people picnic-ers. Despite how typically touristy it was, this was probably one of my biggest highlights of the trip so far.

Today I finally got to Skype my parents!! Pangs of homesickness kick in every now and then (strangely enough, usually when I’m having a good time) , but seeing their faces again was really uplifting and the energy boost that I needed 😄
I think we’re due to touch down in Prague soon so it’s time to wrap this up. We loved you Paris – thank you for showing us some loving too.
